Monticello, Minnesota, boasts a dynamic arts and culture scene that reflects the community’s commitment to creativity and connection. Central to this vibrant landscape is the Monticello Arts Initiative, known as MontiArts, which serves as the city’s arts program dedicated to building community through the arts.
MontiArts: Fostering Creativity and Community
MontiArts operates from two key locations: The Garage at 349 West Broadway and the MontiArts Building at 213 West Broadway. These spaces host a variety of events, workshops, and exhibitions designed to engage residents of all ages. The initiative’s mission is to use the arts as a means to strengthen community bonds and enhance the cultural fabric of Monticello.
Annual Highlights: Art in the Park and Riverfest
Each year, Monticello celebrates its artistic spirit through events like Art in the Park and Riverfest. This event showcases unique, handcrafted treasures from talented vendors and is paired with the Taste of Monticello, featuring local eateries serving their favorite dishes on-site. Riverfest is a multi-day community celebration offering activities such as a Family Fun Night, fireworks show, classic car show, talent showcase, 5K run, and more, embodying the small-town charm and community spirit of Monticello.
Monticello Community Center: A Hub for Arts and Recreation

The MCC provides fitness opportunities for all ages and abilities, including access to a pool, waterslide, and spas. It also hosts popular recreational sports leagues such as flag football and pickleball, and offers rental facilities for various events. The MCC’s mission is to enhance the quality of life through arts and recreation programs, events, and facilities, while preserving and maintaining natural areas and open spaces.
